Meryem Evi is located close to Levissi Lodge and is another wonderful renovation of a 200-year-old ruin.
It is a three-bedroom cottage set in attractive gardens which provide many peaceful corners in which to relax. The pool area and lawn are an oasis of tranquillity and the upstairs terrace provides inspiring views across the valley floor to the ‘ghost village’ of Kayaköy and the surrounding mountains of the Fethiye Peninsula.
The attractive stone interior is carefully designed, with the high-ceilinged sitting room and dining room divided by a gallery that links the master bedroom and upstairs terrace. In addition the thick stone walls ensure the property is always cool, even without the use of the air-conditioning.
Two charming villagers, Heru and her daughter Ayfer, are your next-door neighbours and cleaners. Their smallholding includes a cow, chickens and goats and they produce all manor of organic vegetables often offering small gifts such as eggs, fruit and vegetables. Though speaking not a word of English their friendliness has been the making of many guests holiday.
Those who enjoy walking are well catered for, with a plethora of trails leading through the valley and into the surrounding mountains and forests.
The inclusive car provides easy access to the nearby secluded beach at Gemiler and the hidden delights of the Fethiye peninsula, together with the more commercial attractions of the renowned beach at Ölü Deniz and the Lycian Coast beyond.
