Mahal enjoys a premier reputation as one of Turkey’s best boutique hotels. It has been featured extensively in the media including the cover of Condé Nast Johansen’s Recommended Hotels and Spas, and described by The Sunday Times as enjoying ‘one of the ten best views in the world’ and was also the winner of the prestigious Condé Nast Johansen award for the ‘most romantic hotel in Europe’ 2007.

The location is quite extraordinary being situated above the edge of the waters of the bay of Kalkan. Hotel Villa Mahal matches the stunning location with superb levels of comfort, service and sophistication.

Created by Ipek, who shares our philosophies of service and quality together with a love of Kalkan, Hotel Villa Mahal is the perfect embodiment of all these things. Joined by her brother, Murat, and his wife, Sebnem, they have created a haven for the more discerning traveller in the most wonderful location.

They chose to create their dream in Kalkan as, like us, they fell in love with the natural beauty and relative sophistication of the region. Mahal means ‘the right place’ and since settling in the region, Ipek and her family have worked tirelessly since to ensure that, not only Hotel Villa Mahal, but especially Kalkan remains a wonderful place to visit.

Villa Mahal is located on the far side of Kalkan bay looking directly across the water into the heart of the harbour. Wherever you are it is impossible to escape the stunning views and you cannot help but be amazed the moment they are glimpsed for the first time.

In addition to the magnificent setting, space and ambience are the key features of this striking property. Villa Mahal has just 13 rooms yet it appears to cover half of the hillside. The entrance is from the hillside above Villa Mahal with a path leading to the picturesque terrace, where breakfast is served and which provides the most marvellous setting for sundowners and long dinners under the stars in the evening.

Steep steps lead down from here past the rooms and onto the infinity pool which has become a focal point for the property. This triangular pool provides the opportunity for guests to relax on the pool-side grass and cushions, either on your way down to the private beach club or to offer a welcome break on the way back.

The steps continue down to another highlight of Villa Mahal – your very own private beach club.

THE MAHAL BEACH CLUB
The Mahal beach club is undoubtedly Kalkan’s finest – consisting of platforms built into the hillside, hidden under the welcoming shade of the olive trees. Sun beds are spaciously dotted around, ensuring that visitors will always find their own private spot. A waterside restaurant provides refreshments throughout the day and if you can stir yourself from this paradise, all manner of water sports are available.

The Mahal Beach Club, as described above, is open to all and is offered to all Exclusive Escapes guests on a complimentary basis. The good news for guests staying at Villa Mahal is that residents have their own private club as well, immediately below the hotel. Here you are always guaranteed your own peaceful and private spot with sun beds or hammocks from which to enjoy the unique setting.

THE MAHAL ROOMS
Hotel Villa Mahal is spaciously laid out, and its design contemporary. It has just 13 rooms, nine of which are reserved for Exclusive Escapes with four kept back by Ipek for her long-established guests (non-UK).

The rooms are a real highlight providing, in our opinion, amongst the highest quality available in coastal Turkey. Much thought has been given to peace and privacy. Each of these tasteful and romantic rooms differ in terms of size and facilities, with each maximising the impact of its wonderful setting.

Each room has a shower/WC, air-conditioning, direct dial telephones, safety deposit box, mini-bar, CD player, hair dryer, and a bathrobe and slippers are provided for guests to use.

Moonlight Rooms (4 rooms - being refurbished for 2009)
Spacious rooms each with a double bed (one room has twin beds) and floor-to-ceiling French windows, which lead onto a private terrace with fabulous sea views. The terraces are furnished with reclining balcony chairs and a table.

Moonlight Deluxe (2 rooms)
Larger than a Moonlight Room and both with double beds, the Moonlight Deluxe also has a more spacious private terrace with sun loungers, and one has a bath tub as well as a separate shower in the bathroom.

Sunset Deluxe (4 rooms)
Larger still than the Moonlight Deluxe these rooms have the added bonus of a magnificent floor-to-ceiling glass wall which provides amazing sea views. Sunset Deluxe rooms also have a kingsize double bed and a large private terrace with sun loungers. The bathroom has a bath tub as well as a separate shower for added luxury (one room has the shower in the bath).

The Pool Suite (1 room)
A truly glorious room! The open-plan two-storey Pool Suite is large, light and airy and comes highly recommended.

Entrance is from your private terrace into a secluded seating area. Steps lead up to the double bed and bathroom with deluxe massage shower. The views from the bed, sitting area and, of course, the large private terrace are wonderful, looking across your private swimming pool directly out to sea.

A fabulous hideaway!

The Cliff House (1 room)
The Cliff House is a stunning one-bedroom villa with private swimming pool.

The villa is laid out over two storeys: upstairs has a large double bedroom with en suite shower/WC. Downstairs is a large open-plan split-level sitting and dining room complete with sofa bed. French windows open out onto a large private terrace and garden with private swimming pool.

The Cliff House is situated close to the Beach Club, and therefore has the easiest access to the sea.
The views, as you would expect, are breathtaking no matter what your vantage point!

Sunset Suite
